The Largest Collection of Saddlebred Artifacts Worldwide
The American Saddlebred Museum, located on the grounds of historical Kentucky Horse Park, boasts the largest collection of Saddlebred artifacts in the world. Photos and famous tack, as well as trophies and fine art depict the gentle beauty of this historical breed. Horse lovers and laymen will love the unique collection of George Ford Morris Saddlebred paintings, and the depiction of the important role the breed played in early American history.
The Saddlebred was originally developed for even temperament and versatility, and is now known as one of the most natural show breeds. The museum houses an extensive archive in its library, holding bloodline and breeding information from historical measures to modern day developments. Visitors will notice the engraved bricks of the Saddlebred Sidewalk paving the way to the museum’s entrance. This sidewalk contains names and hometowns of remembered and honored Saddlebreds that have had a significant impact on the industry today. A registry containing the location of these bricks and the horses included is also located within the building.
